Iconic is an over used word in motoring but this car is a true icon. It is now in its seventh generation, the Golf GTI is one of the most revered cars in the world. This is the car that changed the image of the hot hatches. The news is, this seventh generation is pure class, the German maker has done it again.
Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo engine, there’s an extra 10bhp, when comparing to the previous model taking the total to 217bhp. That means this car will complete the benchmark sprint in 6.6 seconds.
If you need more oomph, you can add a Performance Pack, which increases power to 227bhp and means this version is a tenth quicker from 0-62mph.
The great thing about the GTI can be anything that you want it to be, whether that’s a daily driver or a super sweet hot hatch. The handling is super sharp, while the optional Adaptive Chassis Control allows drivers to swap between Comfort, Normal and Sport modes for the damping, which make the car even more driver friendly.
The latest GTI is a class act, Volkswagen has got this market sussed, and this car will sell like hotcakes.
