Not a car that has had a great love affair with the Great British public, however, it is from the Volkswagen brand and certainly deserves a bit more attention.

The platform sits between the Golf and the Passat and its problem has been its siblings. The Jetta has been constantly overlooked, however, VW has not been put off and is determined to make the Jetta stand out on its own.

This sixth generation is no longer a Golf with a boot, which to be fair the previous generations have been. The Jetta is an all-new model in its own right and with this comes a wider held belief that this version of the Jettas could be the one to succeed.

There’s more than 500 litres of useable boot space, that’s down on the previous model, however, the space has been added to the rear giving those passengers extra legroom.

The standout engine on the Jetta line-up is the 2.0-litre TDI producing 138bhp. It will complete the zero to 62mph in 9.5 seconds and you can opt between a six-speed manual gearbox and six-speed DSG auto 'box with this model.

The Jetta may not have history on its side in the UK but VW is certainly playing the long game with this car and is keen to make it appeal to the UK public.
