Now in its eighth iteration, the poplar Volkswagen Passat saloon is one of the most common company cars in the UK. Mixing a prestige badge with a well set-up car makes the Passat a sought after car, hence so many incarnations of the saloon model.
This new version is a huge leap forward, and don’t be surprised to see both retail and business customers flock to the showrooms to have one of these cars on the drive.
As you might expect, the RRP is still going upwards but that extra cash will have been spent well, the Passat is better to drive and there is plenty more kit to keep you entertained on long motorway journeys.
Our pick on the engine front is the 2.0-litre TDI producing 148bhp. This is the sweetest unit across the range, as it offers good acceleration across the rev range while maintaining a good level of fuel economy.
Five trims are available – S, SE, SE Business, GT and R-Line. We believe, that SE or SE Business will be the most popular trims on the range but even at entry-level you get adaptive cruise control, 17-inch wheels, automatic wipers and lights, parking sensors as standard.
